Westlawn hosted family library nights throughout the summer! We had our final night on August 20! Families enjoyed searching for their favorite books and reading to each to other. All students who came recieved a Westlawn tee shirt.

Welcome Mrs. Castillo and Ms. Woolfolk …Westlawn’s New Assistant Principals!
Westlawn welcomes two new assistant principals, Ashley Castillo (pictured on left) and Debra Woolfolk (pictured on right). Mrs. Castillo and Ms. Woolfolk are very excited to become part of the Westlawn family.
Mrs. Castillo is a highly motivated school leader with a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and ten years of experience in Fairfax County Public Schools including McNair and Fairhill Elementary Schools. She is experienced in meeting the needs of a diverse student body. Mrs. Castillo has a versatile skill set and is well known for her work as an Advanced Academics leader. Mrs. Castillo believes in community and greatly values building relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
Ms. Woolfolk began her career in Fairfax County Public Schools in 1987 teaching fourth and fifth grades at Braddock and Mount Eagle Elementary Schools. Much of her teaching and administrative experience has been in Title 1 Schools. Ms. Woolfolk has served as an assistant principal at Graham Road and Lemon Road Elementary Schools. She joins us from her most recent experience at Pine Springs. Ms. Woolfolk is passionate about her work with children. She prides herself as a mentor and for her engagement in her school’s community outreach and involvement.

Congratulation Mrs. Rojas!
Congratulation to Mrs. Rojas who completed her FCPS Custodian Certification! A graduation ceremony was held for 84 custodians employed thoughout the country on July 10 at Woodson HS. Many dignitaries attended the graduation, including Mr. Jeffrey Platenberg, Assistant Superintendent of FCPS Facilities and Transportation, and Mr. IIryong Moon, School Board Member.
